“I am Sunita, I am 9 years old. I was forced to give up school as it was very far from home and did not have proper toilets for girls. We are very poor and my father is the only earning member in the family. I have four younger siblings and a stay-at-home mother. It becomes very difficult for my father to provide for all of us. We not have the money to even have proper meals every day and so going to school is a luxury I cannot afford.
Since last year, people from Our Children Foundation have been urging all villagers to send the children to school and somehow my parents agreed. The school has all the required amenities and more importantly it has separate toilets for girls and boys. The teachers and staff are friendly and go out of their way to help students like us. I feel blessed to be in such a school. I hope more girls like me get the privilege to study and excel in life.”
